What You Get

What being on the roster means

Low commitment. Real access. A community that actively opens doors for you.

Assignments & Commission Work

When a client commissions Art of Stories to write a script, fill a writers' room or develop a project, we match it with the right writer from our roster. You get paid per assignment — proper contracts, fair rates.

The Art of Stories Methodology

All roster writers share our methodology and creative tools, including Foreshadow. This gives the collective a common language and quality standard — and gives you a framework that makes your work stronger.

Writers Room

Roster writers are invited to participate in our Writers Room — our structured collaborative development programme. You get office space, methodology sessions, Foreshadow test films, and a share of any IP developed during the programme.

Office Space

Access to our shared workspace for writing, meetings and collaboration. Flexible booking, free of charge for active roster members.

Applications & Funding Support

We support roster writers with applications to film funds, development grants and broadcaster calls — from drafting project descriptions to providing letters of support and co-applicant status.

Platform Visibility

Your profile on the Art of Stories site, presented to producers and clients as part of the collective. Being associated with Art of Stories opens doors you might not reach on your own.

Negotiation & Representation

When you work on projects through Art of Stories, we stand behind you in contracts and client relationships. You're not alone in the room.

Collective Support

A working community of writers who read each other's work, give honest feedback and help each other find opportunities. The most valuable thing about the collective is the other writers in it.

Who We're Looking For

Are we the right fit?

We are selective, but not in the way you might expect.

We don't have a profile of the perfect writer and we're not only interested in writers with long CVs. We look for people who are genuinely serious about the craft of screenwriting — who think carefully about story, who are willing to collaborate, who take feedback and who have something particular to offer.

Our roster is deliberately diverse — in terms of background, genre, nationality, experience level and creative voice. We believe better stories come from a wider range of perspectives.

If you're a writer who wants to be part of something, not just managed by something — we'd like to hear from you.

We're particularly interested in writers who:

Have a strong, distinctive voice

We're not looking for generalists who can write anything. We want writers who know what they do well.

Can work collaboratively

Many of our projects involve multiple writers. The ability to collaborate without losing your voice is essential.

Are at a turning point in their career

Whether you're emerging or established, we're interested in writers who are actively trying to do more.

Bring something underrepresented

Stories, perspectives, genres or languages that expand what the collective can offer.

Want to contribute, not just receive

The collective only works if everyone puts something in. We're looking for writers who want to be part of building something together.

Questions

Frequently Asked

Q

What does "being on the roster" actually mean?

In practice it's a handshake: we represent you, you're available for assignments. No fixed contract, no monthly commitment, no fees. When we have a project that suits you, we come to you. If it works for both sides, you take it on. Paid per job.

Q

Does it cost anything?

Nothing. We don't charge membership fees and we don't take a cut of work you find independently. We earn when we bring you work directly through Art of Stories.

Q

Can I still have an agent or manager?

Yes. We're not exclusive. Many roster writers work with agents for other parts of their career. When you take on work through Art of Stories, you work directly with us.

Q

Do I have to be based in Scandinavia?

No. We work with writers remotely and our roster is international. Physical office space and Writers Room participation is available for writers who are based locally or visiting.

Q

What if I'm early in my career?

We consider writers at all stages. Be honest about where you are — we may not be able to put you forward for senior commission work immediately, but the collective, the Writers Room and the methodology are available to you from day one.

Q

How do I get on the roster?

Send us a message below — tell us who you are, what you write, and why you're interested. No formal application. We read everything and respond within three weeks.
